Error Message:iPod Service Error Translation:Your computer cannot communicate properly with your iPod. This may be caused by software corruption, software conflicts, or device-interface errors. This problem only occurs on Windows machines. Solution:Start with the easiest fix by uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. By following these instructions, you will only delete the application and not the music files themselves. To do this, click the Start menu, Settings, and Control Panel. Then double-click Add Or Remove Programs. Click to select iTunes from the list of installed software and then click the corresponding Change/Remove button. Click the Next button and then the OK button to confirm that you wish to uninstall iTunes. When prompted, select Yes, I Want To Restart My Computer Now and click the Finish button. After your computer restarts, browse the Program Files folder. Right-click the iTunes folder and click Delete. Next, double-click the iPod folder, right-click the Bin folder, and click Delete. Press WINDOWS-M to minimize all windows. Then right-click the Recycle Bin and click Empty Recycle Bin. Click the Start menu, Shut Down, and Restart. After your computer restarts, double-click the My Computer icon, the C: drive (or the drive on which Windows is installed), Documents And Settings, your username, and Local Settings. Right-click the Temp folder and click Delete. Download the latest version of iTunes (www.apple.com/itunes) and the iPod Software (www.apple.com/ipod). Double-click the downloaded iTunes file and follow any on-screen instructions to complete the installation. Then double-click the downloaded iPod Software and follow the on-screen instructions. If you still see the iPod Service Error, click the Start menu and click Run. Type msconfig in the Open field and click OK. Click the General tab, the Selective Startup radio button, and deselect the Load Startup Items checkbox. Click the Startup tab and click the iTunesHelper checkbox. Click the Services tab and click the Hide All Microsoft Services checkbox at the bottom of the window. Deselect all checkboxes in the list except for iPod Service, click OK, and click Restart. If this does not resolve the problem, try uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes one more time. Finally, if after following these steps, you still see the iPod Service Error, right-click My Computer, click Manage, and click Services And Applications in the left pane. Click iPod Service in the right pane, click the Action menu, and click Properties. Click the Stop button in the resulting dialog box. Click the Start menu, click Run, and type “C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe†/service. Make sure you include the quotation marks when you type. Click the OK button. Then click the Start menu, Shut Down, and Restart.
