Ubuntu sem som

Olá pessoal,

Possuo um notebook satellite da toshib, e acabei de instalar o ubuntu 8.04, muito bom o sistema. Porém não tem som, não escuto músicas, os vídeos tem imagem mas não tem som, nem mesmo os vídeos online é possível escutar.

Necessito de socorro.

Uma possível solução seria seguir os itens destes How-To, mas os procedimentos não são dos mais simples, segue...

Outra alternativa seria baixar a versão mais recente e verificar se o "problema" foi solucionado:

Baixei a versão 9.04, não deu resultado. Vou tentas os passos que você me enviou.
